Almond Blossom in the Anti-Atlas

Tomorrow will be the start of Tafroute's almond blossom festival. There will be another later in the year when the harvest is in. It is a slightly odd venue as there are few almond trees  in Tafroute and the Ameln valley. There is a line at a certain height in the Anti-Atlas below which the trees are mainly argan and above which they are almonds.  Tafroute and the Ameln valley are just about on or under that line. There is little blossom in Tafroute  and only a little in the valley but the hills round about are full of it.

Most of the blossom is white but the odd tree, maybe one in twenty or thirty, is pink, often with  cherry red eyes. Only rarely are they planted together in a semblance of an orchard but usually dotted about in wheat fields or around houses.
