Agdz

Agdz is the town at the top of the Draa Valley after you have crossed the Anti-Atlas and is the first sight of the dramatic rock sides to the valley and the palmerie.
We took the southern route from Taznahkte. We had stopped briefly for saffron in Talliouine but had missed the festival by a day. We wanted to avoid the drag into Ouzazate but the Tan Tan road which is usually good was all deviation for road works as was the Agdz road until BruAzzer so it was like driving 50km on piste.
Agdz itself is a good size town with a good range of Chambre D'Hotes although we were told that there was only one real "hotel" and that that was closed as it was rented out in its entirity to the government for contractors. Well we had a really nice Chambre D'Hote in the palmerie and there seemed to be several otheres some much more deluxe so when is a hotel a hotel?
